Beacon’s Nursing Staff and Services Include:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) trained to support students requiring medical accommodations throughout the school day.

  • Nurses attending Community Based Instruction (CBI) as necessary.

  • Dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medication during school hours as indicated by students’ doctors and parents/caregivers.

Our specialized nursing care gives parents and caregivers peace of mind, while allowing students to safely and successfully navigate the school day thanks to our caring, compassionate and highly trained staff.

Health & Wellness

Beacon knows students with autism and related disorders often have comorbid conditions that may create additional physical, emotional, and social challenges. If not addressed and accommodated appropriately, these challenges can further impede learning and prevent successful growth and progress in key areas of development.

At Beacon, we believe in nurturing and supporting the whole child, which means we take the health and well-being of our students seriously. Beacon Founder Dr. Mary Jo Lang, who is also a nurse practitioner, has implemented a comprehensive school nurse program designed to provide students with comorbid medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and other health concerns with individualized support to ensure safety and optimize learning opportunities.
